Capricorn closes out and begins our calendar year, running from December 22nd through January 19th. They are known as “the goat” and said to be detailed and hard-working.
If you’re reading this, you probably are (or know) a Capricorn going through a tough time.
That’s okay! You’re in the right place. We’ll go over your biggest potential pitfalls and see if any of them apply to your situation.

Capricorn: Why Your Life Sucks and What to Do About It
As a Virgo, I love Capricorns and mean no disrespect to any of you. This is simply tough love as only a good Virgo friend can provide. If you’re a Capricorn, let me know!

If you’re going through some tough times, here are some things to consider:
1). You’re Trying Too Hard to be “Perfect”

Newsflash, dear Capricorn: “Perfect” is an illusion. It doesn’t exist, and nothing you do will ever be considered “perfect” to everyone. No one, not even Virgos, can match Capricorn’s dire need to make everything look and feel perfect. While it’s a great quality in general, you usually pay for it alone. No one sees the sleepless nights, the 16-hour days, or the circles under your eyes (except Virgos, and of course we’ll point it out to you).
The Solution: I could just say “stop trying to be perfect,” but we both know you won’t do that. Instead, I’d like you to consider why you seek perfection. Where does that need come from? Go deep and find your reasons. You don’t have to change them, but simply understanding the origins may help you. When your need for perfection flairs up, you can say “hey, there’s my need to impress my teacher in 2nd grade because I thought she was hot and didn’t realize it yet.” Knowing the source can be a help on its own!

2). You’re Trying to Control Other People

I get it, it’s frustrating when someone won’t follow your advice. It’s even MORE frustrating when their refusal to follow your advice impacts your own life. However, you’ve got to let go of the idea that you can force people to do anything. You can’t, and you’ll only push them away.
There’s actually a great freedom in realizing that other people’s actions are completely beyond your control. It lifts a huge weight off of your shoulders and allows you to stop caring so much.
The Solution: Let them go their own way. Whenever you feel the need to mention your advice for the 50th time, remember that it’s quite literally not your problem. All you can control is your reactions to how it affects you. Focus on that, and if it doesn’t affect you, even better!

3). You’re Making Unfair Comparisons

In general, this applies to yourself. You only see the highlights of other people’s lives, and you compare that to your struggles and flaws. That’s not fair to yourself, Capricorn. Stop doing that.
Capricorns can also make comparisons to things that aren’t at all similar to anyone else. Your mind works so quickly that it fills in gaps before explaining them, so when you compare your parents’ marriage to your cousin’s dead dog, no one else will understand.
You’re a smart cookie, and you may think your comparisons are valid. But are they really? More importantly, are they even necessary?
The Solution: Write out these comparisons. Do they make sense on paper? Also, practice re-writing negative thoughts as this can prevent unfair comparisons in the future.

4). No One Understands You, and That’s Your Fault

Sometimes no one understands us and that’s an emotion, or feeling of isolation. That sucks, but that’s not what we’re dealing with here.
Capricorns are natural leaders, and they often forget to explain why (or where) they are leading. You’re either too busy with making decisions, or you don’t feel you should have to explain. However, people need to understand your point of view. They’ll be much more likely to follow you and be on-board with plans when they know what’s happening.
The Solution: Explain where you’re coming from. Tell your side of the story in detail.
I promise you, whatever the problem you’re currently facing, this one will help. If you’re in a fight with someone, they need to know your side as much as you know theirs.
If you’re leading a group up a mountain, they need to know that the mountain is actually safer than the path at night. If you don’t explain these things, people will think you’re arrogant or a bad leader. Or, they might simply take the path behind your back, since they don’t know your reasons for skipping it.

5). You’re Holding a Grudge

They don’t call you “the goat” for no reason. In addition to being the Greatest Of All Time, you can also be incredibly stubborn. You don’t have space in your life for people who hold you back, and you’ll cut them out immediately if needed. However, not everyone is as bad as you think.
Maybe they didn’t understand where you were coming from (see #4), maybe they weren’t as good as someone else (see #3) or maybe they screwed up once and you haven’t let it go.
In general, I don’t feel that grudges are always a bad thing. They remind us not to trust certain people, and they also provide warning signs for potential future dangers. However, Capricorns can hold grudges for eternity, and for seemingly no reason. This can impact you greatly, especially in work situations where you may need to rely on other people.
The Solution: Write out your grudge as a story. Put yourself as the main character and the person you hate as the villain. When you read it back, does it seem like a compelling story? Is the main character’s anger justified? Or is this a bad Hallmark movie with no real conflict? If it’s the latter, it’s time to release that. Try a cord cutting ritual or a release ritual. Let go of baggage you don’t need!

I hope this helps you get through your hard time, Capricorn! Feel free to pin this post or save this list for later:
