Rose Quartz is one of the most popular crystals, even among people who aren’t crystal enthusiasts. This is said to be the “love stone,” related to all things love.
Feng shui experts recommend placing Rose Quartz in the love area of your home or by your bed to attract romance. However, it is said to bring in love of all kinds: Self-love, familial love, platonic love and, most importantly, self-love.
I have zero self-love. None. I am a flaming human garbage can and I contribute nothing to society. I think my focus will be on self-love this week, but we’ll see.

The History of Rose Quartz
While the actual history of this stone is limited, this quote from Energy Muse provides great info:
Cupid, the Roman god of desire and affection, was said to have bestowed Rose Quartz crystal stone upon the Earth as a gift of love, passion, and happiness for all. Another Greek legend tells a more tragic tale. According to this myth, Ares, the Greek god of war, came in the form of a boar to kill Aphrodite’s lover, Adonis. In trying to save Adonis, Aphrodite cut herself on a briar bush. As their blood spilled, it came together over a Quartz crystal, staining the stone pink.
Rose Quartz was also prized by Egyptians, who made facial masks out of the stone and placed it in tombs. The Assyrians were one of the first groups to use Rose Quartz, crafting jewelry from it.

I think this is a great explanation and perfectly encapsulates the history, so I won’t elaborate on it. Let’s focus on what it even is:
What is Rose Quartz?

Quite simply, Rose Quartz is any quartz with a pink shade to it. The shade can vary, due to microscopic inclusions of pink dumortierite. Dumortierite is a stone you can work with on its own, but it has a different set of attributes.
You can get Rose Quartz almost anywhere, as it’s one of the most popular stones (including Amethyst and Clear Quartz). I have some links below if you want to order them online! I love doing this because it’s fun to see what I end up getting.
My Plan:
Like previous crystals, I plan to work extensively with Rose Quartz this week. My experiment will include:
- Journaling
- Hiking (weather permitting, I hate the cold and it’s cold here now)
- Meditating
- Yoga
- Working with myself to unravel years of self-hate and replace with self-love, or even simply self-acceptance
Since so many people love this stone, I’m pretty optimistic about its results.
If you want to work with crystals yourself, I have a free crystal worksheet you can use:

If you want some Rose Quartz of your own, you can buy them in bulk on Amazon (great for crystal grids if you use those!)
I have no idea what this does, but I’ve seen many people use these face rollers and they seem to love them:
If you want a singular one, Energy Muse has one here, as well as a pointed stone, a cool AF unicorn, and a Ganesh statue.
