How to Work with the Cinnabar Mineral: 3 Tips to Transform Your Mindset

October 9, 2020      Mella      Leave a Comment

This is Part 2 of a two-part series. In Part 1 (see here), I discuss the basic facts about Cinnabar. In this post, I will discuss my personal experience with it and my results. Please remember that my results are not a guarantee and I do not promise similar effects to anyone who tries it, even if they follow my practices exactly.

Cinnabar Mineral is also known as “the merchant’s stone,” said to bring wealth to all who possess it. Like most stones, the metaphysical properties of Cinnabar are kind of vague and seemingly endless:

  • Attract wealth to your business
  • Awaken mystic & psychic abilities
  • Encourage transformation of one’s mind and soul

Since I’m a basic B*tch and only care about money, I’m going to focus exclusively on the “attracting wealth” part of it for my experiment. I talked more about what Cinnabar is and does in my full analysis of it here.

Can Cinnabar Mineral make me rich? I’m going to find out.

Obviously, this is not a science. There’s probably a way to be *more* scientific about it, but whatever. My blog, my crystals, my rules, friends.

Here’s how I plan to work with Cinnabar Mineral:

  1. Daily meditations
  2. Carrying it with me
  3. Daily hiking
  4. Yoga
  5. Journaling

I also just plan to keep it on me as a physical reminder to work on my biz. My biz, for those curious, is a full-time session singer and blogger at MellaMusic.com. This blog is just a fun side thing, but I’d love to grow it into more someday.

Also, I’m writing this in advance and posting it after the experiment is over. So, if I reference the week or moon phase or something, it’s current as of writing it, not posting it. Hope that makes sense!

The following is my 7-day diary of working with Cinnabar. If you don’t care about that, skip here for my results, or here for my recommendations.

Day 1 – Planner

I bought a planner. Scheduling is, by far, my biggest hurdle as an entrepreneur. I tend to wake up whenever I feel like it, haphazardly start my day, work until it’s dark, beat myself up for not working enough, then fall asleep. It sucks and it needs to change, so this is my attempt to do that.

Luckily it’s September, so planners are pretty cheap. This was pretty much the only productive thing I did today besides my regular studio work. I’m a full-time session singer, so my mornings start with music. I’m super grateful for that and I need to remind myself to be grateful more often.

Day 2 – New Moon

Today was a mess. I totally forgot I had a podcast interview this morning, and I didn’t have time to set my camera up. The interview went well but then my roommate broke my toilet and left without saying anything, so I was left to clean the whole bathroom when it flooded.

I went on a 5-mile hike today with Cinnabar Mineral. While hiking, I thought about “what if I just run away to Arizona or New Mexico.” I’ve always felt a draw to that area but never lived there (in this life, anyway). I pretty much talked myself out of it by the end of the hike, but it was a lot of thinking.

Tonight is a new moon. I tried to do a ritual I found from Tess Whitehurst (love her so much). Doing rituals always feels so creative and peaceful, even if I don’t believe they are doing anything. If you’re Christian or another traditional religion, you can easily do any ritual and dedicate it to God. I promise you’ll enjoy it and feel way better after.

Tomorrow is my birthday. Cinnabar Mineral is supposed to be transformative. I hope I am transforming.

Day 3 – Several Days Later

I took my birthday off from everything. I tend to get burnt out really quickly, since my job is also my hobby and my passion. I’m pretty much always working or thinking about work, and I just needed a break.

I did enjoy my birthday zodiac message:

This is an app called “Moon Calendar,” I highly recommend it!

Anyway, I’m counting “day 3” as the next day I picked it up. I went for a hike early in the morning and couldn’t believe how cold it is. My birthday has always been in the upper 70s; I am now wearing a sweater and winter coat. Climate change is heavy on my mind. I did enjoy my hike though.

I found some wild grapes and ate them. They were not good, haha. Genetically engineered, GMO grapes taste way better and therefore are worth the chemicals I guess.

Speaking of chemicals, I am at equal times scared to touch my cinnabar mineral, but I also have a strange desire to lick it. I really want to know what will happen. It’s like touching a stove for the first time. I won’t do it, but it remains terrifying and tempting.

I ordered two blog planners online and got both. I’m excited about both of them.

Day 4 – Getting Sh*t Done

I crushed my To Do list today, so I feel great. I’ve noticed I only feel good about my days when they are productive. I want to change that, but I don’t know how. But anyway, today was good because I dug into my planners:

It was also warmer today so I got to work outside.

I’ve been really trying to meditate daily. I can’t do more than 10 minutes without getting bored, but I’m trying. I don’t know that it’s doing anything but maybe it will over time.

Day 5 – Work/Life Balance

Today I met my cousins and we went for a walk in the morning. Social distancing, of course, but it was so nice to see them and have human interaction. I’m a super introverted hermit, so I’m only just now feeling the isolating effects of quarantine. I’m glad and grateful for the people in my life who make life worth living.

After the walk I came home and edited videos non-stop for 6 hours. Then I went for a solitary walk where I took my obligatory crystal pic:

Then I came home, did my session singing work for several hours, then did yoga and a meditation. I like the work balance that I had today. If I could keep this up, I think it would be ideal and (relatively) easy to maintain.

Day 6 – A Subtle Shift

I can’t explain or describe it, but today I felt like certain things in my life and business that felt “off” just kind of clicked into place. It’s mostly just how I feel about them.

I’ve spent months upset and agonizing over my lack of progress in my career, and I feel that slowly dissipating. Rather than fret over it, I’m choosing to “let things be.” No, I am not where I would like to be at this stage in my life. But who says this isn’t exactly where I should be?

Did working with Cinnabar Mineral do this? I feel in part that it did.

The process of meditating, doing this journal and my daily hikes have brought me to this place, and I definitely think Cinnabar was a key part of it. After all, I wouldn’t have done those things if I wasn’t actively working with it everyday.

Day 7 – Horses and a New Leaf

I went horseback riding today! This had nothing to do with Cinnabar (I didn’t even bring it because I didn’t want to lose it), but it was still a great time:

It was only my 2nd time riding and I loved it. Perfect day, perfect time. I haven’t felt pure joy like that in a long while.

After that I went hiking with my dogs and found this peace rock:

You’re supposed to take a pic and hashtag it #peaceroks, and I apologize for my blurry photo. My dogs were pulling on their leashes while I took the photo:

I actually took it to a different park and hid it, I’m not sure if that’s how it works? But that was a really cool experience and I hope whoever finds it enjoys it as much as I did:

Here are my complete results working with Cinnabar Mineral:

  • While I did get a lot of work done and made a lot of business progress, I feel like the “real” work was done mentally. Cinnabar definitely helped with that
  • I used this stone to transform my business, but really I think it transformed me in gentle, subtle ways
  • I don’t know specifically *how* it works (no one does tbh) but a lot of it was the work I put in, aided by Cinnabar

How to Work with Cinnabar:

Of course, these are just my suggestions. If you work with Cinnabar in different ways, please let me know!

  1. I definitely think journaling is a must when working with any crystal. You don’t have to publish a full-on blog (although you certainly can and please let me know if you do!) but just working through your thoughts will help you tremendously
  2. I recommend meditating both on business/work but also transformations. Here are some business meditations and here are some transforming ones.
  3. Keep Cinnabar around as you work. Let it remind you to re-frame your negative thoughts about your career and situation
