This is Part 1 of a two-part series. In this post, I will discuss my research about Fluorite in general. In Part 2 (see here), I discuss my personal experience and results working with Fluorite.

Fluorite is said to provide “laser-sharp focus and a clear mind,” and also provide balance. It comes in pretty much every color and each color is said to do something else. Green Fluorite is the most common and is associated with the heart chakra.
My Fluorite is split in half, a combination of green, blue and purple:

What is Fluorite and Where Does it Come From?
This video from The Crystal Council (one of my favorite crystal companies) gives a great overview of what Fluorite is and what it does:
If you can’t watch, Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride. I tried to research if this is the same fluoride the dentist gives you, but I couldn’t find anything and gave up quickly because honestly who cares. I’m not going to put Fluorite on my teeth so whatever.
Fun Fluorite Facts:
Telescope and microscope lenses use Fluorite due to their ability to focus all colors into one point.
China and Mexico produce the world’s largest sources of Fluorite. It is also found in Russia and South Africa.
Known as “the most colorful mineral in the world,” Fluorite comes in pretty much every color imaginable. I think most of us are familiar with the green/purple variety:

What Does it Do?
Like all crystals, Fluorite has a long and confusing list of things it’s supposed to do for you:
- Clear mental and emotional clutter
- Aid in concentration and focus
- Align chakras (related to whatever color your particular fluorite is in)
- Remove confusion, chaos and stress
- Provide a sense of calm serenity
Although this list seems overwhelming, mental clarity is the overall focus. So that’s what I’ll focus on for my experiment.
My Plan:

I’m going to intensely focus on this crystal daily, including the following practices:
- Daily meditation and/or yoga
- Daily journaling
- Organizing my external space to help organize my mental space
- Decluttering and removing what makes me unfocused
- Daily hiking (if it’s not too cold because I hate the cold)

Potential Problems with My Plan
Just getting these out of the way in case things don’t go according to plan:
I am a very clean and organized person. However, my roommate is a hoarder slob with grotesque levels of filth, the likes of which I can’t describe. It gives me a panic attack to look at our laundry room. I have tried cleaning myself, I’ve tried encouraging them to clean, no luck. It remains filthy and seems to get worse every week.
Therefore, in order to maximize my mental clarity, I am only going to focus on the areas I can control, such as my own bedroom, the shared living spaces and the bathroom (although that gets filthy every day as well and I spend several hours a week cleaning his mess WHY ARE PEOPLE SO GROSS).
It’s clear that I need some mental clarity, and I’m counting on this crystal to provide it for me.

If you want to work with a crystal thoroughly, I have a free worksheet you can use to get to know your crystal! Grab it here:

If you want your own Fluorite to work with, here is a link to order one online. You can also order a heart shape or a point. I know it’s tough to order crystals online, but sometimes it’s fun to see what you get and you can stay socially distant!

If you want to follow along and work with your own Fluorite, please do! You can join us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. You can also pin this to come back to it later. Let me know how you use Fluorite and what you think of it!

My update on Fluorite is here if you want to see how it went! Overall, I think this crystal helped me learn the ways I function best. While this didn’t lead to very tangible results, it did show me how I can work with my own energy and pace it out over time.
