All About Lepidolite: Important Facts About this Glittery Purple Beauty

August 6, 2021      Mella      Leave a Comment

This is part 1 of a two-part series on Lepidolite. Part 1 will cover the facts and information about Lepidolite, while Part 2 will cover my experiences working with it.

Lepidolite catches my eye EVERY time in the crystal store, especially the raw version. Purple is my favorite color and I love all things sparkly. I own three of these and I’m excited to talk about them! If you’re wondering what does Lepidolite do? Or what is Lepidolite? You’re in the right place! Let’s jump into it.

What is Lepidolite?

Ranging from dark pink to light purple, Lepidolite is a form of Mica. Mica is a shimmery mineral used in makeup, paint and electronics. Lepidolite contains Lithium, and is one of the most abundant lithium sources in the world. It can also rarely come in shades of gold, grey or clear. It is found in a variety of places, including Brazil, Canada, Russia and the United States.

The name comes from the Greek language and translates roughly to “scaly stone.” The raw version does look scaly and is incredibly beautiful. I just love this mineral so much. I’m excited to work with it.

What does Lepidolite do?

Due to its high lithium content, Lepidolite is known as a “mood stabilizer” and is said to help manage anxiety and promote deeper sleep.

As someone diagnosed with Panic Disorder and General Anxiety, I’m here to tell you that no crystal can ever replace science and medicine. Please do not use Lepidolite in place of prescribed medications.

Still, this is Lepidolite’s great claim to fame. Many crystals claim to do a million different things, but reducing anxiety is all Lepidolite seems to do. I usually like focused crystals because they’re easier to find actual results, but this one makes me wary.

How to Work with Lepidolite

Again, please do not use this in place of therapy and medication. I plan on incorporating this into my current anxiety management program, to see if it boosts or helps it in any way. If not, at least it looks pretty!

There are several ways to work with crystals, including putting them in water to drink:

Since Lepidolite has lithium in it, I kind of feel like it’s a bad idea to put it in a drink? I don’t know; I’m not going to risk it.

Here’s how I’m going to use Lepidolite this week:

  1. Meditating for anxiety
  2. Journaling
  3. Working to improve my mental health (researching, etc)
  4. Practicing mindfulness
  5. Prioritizing my mental health

Of course, I could do all of these things without Lepidolite. I should, but I don’t. Life happens, I get busy, I get stressed, I don’t do any of the things I’m supposed to do. Lepidolite is going to (hopefully) remind me to do these things, and also assist me in doing them.

I have a raw version that will be placed near my bed, a tumbled version I’ll wear as a necklace, and a bracelet with a rabbit on it.

I absolutely do not expect my anxiety to be cured by the end of the week. However, I hope to have learned some new things and maybe some techniques that will help manage my anxiety.
